President's Welcome
Greetings,
Thank you for visiting the official website of Theta Lambda Omega Chapter. This website will provide you with general information regarding our history, programs, leadership and activities.
Dedicated to service to all mankind, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington D.C. in 1908. It is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college trained women. Additional information about our sorority may be found at www.AKA1908.com.
Theta Lambda Omega Chapter was chartered on November 16, 1966 in Pontiac, Michigan. It was the first African American Women’s Greek-letter organization initiated in the Pontiac area. Many programs and activities were initiated contributing to the advancement of the Pontiac Community. Over the forty plus years, our chapter has worked hard to continue to provide excellent service through our programs and events. Two of our annual events, the Debutante Scholarship Cotillion and the Golf Outing have allowed us the opportunity to provide scholarships for many of the young people of Pontiac and surrounding communities.
At the 2006 Boule, our International President, Barbara A. McKinzie established the mandate for carrying out the ESP vision (Extraordinary Service Program). The ESP vision embraces a five-pronged program design to excite, galvanize and ignite the passion of more than 180,000 members worldwide. Chapters throughout Alpha Kappa Alpha’s international network are implementing The ESP Platforms with activities dedicated to improving the living standards within the Black community through economic education; creating exposure and opportunities for the women entrepreneur; adopting and/or assisting Black families, with an emphasis on the Black male; and improving the mental and physical health of local communities.
Please continue to visit our website as we update it often to reflect our current programs and events.
Sincerely,
Angela L. Davis
15th President of Theta Lambda Omega Chapter
